WORKSHOP ITEMS - NO ACTION WAS TAKEN
Contract Renewal for Kennel Services with the Humane Society of Skagit Valley
(HSSV)
Police Chief Jonathan Ventura reviewed a contract renewal with the Humane Society of
Skagit Valley for kennel services. HSSV requests a 5-year agreement.
The City of Arlington has maintained a partnership with the Human Society of Skagit Valley
(HSSV) since 2012. Prior to this the City had a brief contract with the City of Everett. HSSV
is located 30 miles away, whereas the City of Everett Shelter is located 18 miles away.
Factoring drive times with traffic, each location takes nearly the same amount of travel
time per trip, however HSSV is significantly more cost effective. Arlington had maintained
its own animal control services and shelter up to 2002. Discussion followed with Chief
Ventura answering Council questions.
