Here's some information you need to know
Is the tree significant or non-significant?
• A significant coniferz has a diameter of 12"or greater at 4'6"above grade Diameter
• A significant deciduous'has a diameter of 8" or greater at 4' 6"above grade A B
Significant Tree Information
• If a significant tree meets the following criteria:dangerous,hazardous,diseased,or causing structural damage,it may
be removed pending approval from the City.The replacement or mitigation is a 1:1 ratio. A report from a certified
arborist may be required.
• If a significant tree does not meet the criteria above,it may be removed pending approval from the City.The
replacement or mitigation is a 3:1 ratio in this case.
• Heritage trees may not be removed.
• If you think your tree is significant and qualifies for removal,complete the Tree Evaluation Application
• Removal of a significant tree is in violation of AMC 20.28.040A and may result in a misdemeanor,up to
$1000 fine,and up to 90 days in prison,per violation.
If the city approves the removal of a significant tree,replacement or mitigation is required.
Tree Replacement Mitigation in Lieu of Tree Replacement

Non-Significant&Street Tree Information
• Street trees require a 1:1 replacement ratio and must be a species equivalent to the trees on your street.
• Street trees must be planted with root barrier per city of Arlington Standard Details R-270
• Dangerous,Hazardous,Damaging or Diseased trees require a 1:1 replacement ratio
• Any tree removal within the public right-of-way requires a Right-of-Way permit from the City of Arlington Permit
Center
• Single Family Homes,Duplex and Townhomes require a minimum of one tree planted in the backyard and one in the front
yard per each unit.
• Multi-family and commercial property must meet the screening and landscaping requirement standards.AMC
20.76
When is a Forest Practice permit required?
• A Forest Practice permit is required when proposing to remove trees on 1/2 acre (21,780 square feet) or greater or
more than 5000 board feet
