AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ARLINGTON, WASHINGTON
AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
TO INCLUDE THE ARLINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT
CAPITAL FACILITIES PLAN AS PART OF THE
CITY OF ARLINGTON CAPITAL FACILITIES PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Arlington, Washington has the authority to enact laws to
promote the health, safety and welfare of its citizens as a way of controlling the use and
development of property within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arlington has the authority to regulate land uses within the City,
and has gone through its periodic review and update of the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, included in the review of the Comprehensive Plan was a proposed update to
1 the Arlington School District Capital Facilities Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission considered these amendments at their March 15,
2011 meeting and at their April 5, 2011 public hearing. The City Council considered the same at
their meeting on March 14, 2011, and at a public hearing conducted on April 18, 2011, and
determined approving the amendments was in the best interest of the City and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the proposed comprehensive plan
amendment and finds the same to be consistent with city and state law and in the best interests of
the citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arlington do hereby ordain as
follows:
Section 1. Comprehensive Plan Amended. The City of Arlington Comprehensive
Plan shall be amended to include the version of the "Arlington Public
Schools Capital Facilities Plan 2010-2015" approved by the Arlington
School District on September 13, 2010, as part of Chapter 11 — Public
Services and Capital Facilities Element of the Arlington Comprehensive
Plan.
Section 2. Severability. If any provision, section, or part of this ordinance shall be
adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity
of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid
or unconstitutional.
Section 3. Effective Date. A summary of this Ordinance consisting of its title shall
be published in the official newspaper of the City, and shall take effect and be in full
force five (5) days of the date of publication.
