Please leave your written comment below:
Hello my name is Kailin Tracy.I have lived in Arlington for 17 years, since I was 3 years old.I am proud to say I am part of our communities work
force and work close with the people and children in our town and I care very much for the well being of our community. The small town I have
grown up in has very quickly turned from a small town, close knit community,a place that takes pride in our small town beliefs and has turned to
a small but growing city that cares more about profit and wealth than the well being of our residents.I believe that as beautiful as Arlington still
is,what little we have left of our clear farmlands and agricultural lands, places where we can walk to view our gorgeous natural landscape and
surroundings, the places where our native plants and animals are free to wander and grow is being taken away from us.Every year we have new
construction and apartments that slowly encroaching upon our natural environment to keep up with the growth of unnecessary warehouses and
massive facilities that take away from our natural resources. At the same time,we see little to no improvement of our roads and our already
existing infrastructure.Day by day we see the land we grew up seeing that once was clear fields and homes of families, being tore down and
turned into something that does not belong here. The price we all will pay to accommodate these new facilities is far more than we can even
image. These new facilities and warehouses offer the minimum amount of jobs necessary and for barely more money than minimum wage.
Meaning these corporations will make more profit for themselves while offering us the least amount of jobs and money to care of our families.
We are talking millions of dollars put into these buildings just for it to have no real return and positive impact for our community. They are taking
energy and water resources from our residents to help keep up with the demand of these facilities.just as Data centers are robbing us of our
natural resources and do not benefit the people or our land, these Industrial centers,Amazon fulfillment centers and other facilities of that sort
are robbing us just the same. The price we'll pay is not only is losing our land and resources. But we are also losing our peace and calm living in
this place that once was a town that prided itself in supporting small businesses, that once cared more for the common man than the major
corporations. On top of that,we will have to pay the prices for these companies moving into our town, they are tax exempt for the first 10 years
and get little to no regulation on the resources they use.If we pay our water bill late or use too much water,it gets shut off and we get a notice to
limit our usage. If we pay our PUD bill late or we use too much power,it gets shut off and we get a notice to limit our usage. If we don't pay
property taxes we can get fined and lose our homes or properties. The banks and the state can take our homes away from us if we do not abide
to their rules. But why are we,the residents of Arlington, being held to a higher standard than the major corporations who have more money
than most of,if not all,of our residents.so why should we let these companies that have more power and money, have little to no regulation on
their usage of our water and power. Why should we risk the possibility of our property taxes going up because these companies are exempt from
property taxes?I feel the agenda of building more Amazon fulfillment centers, more warehouses, and more facilities of that sort will cause more
damage to our communities than it does bring any benefit. Our roads, lands and natural resources can not handle the long lasting effects these
corporations will be bringing to Arlington and our neighboring communities.
