I keep hearing people talk about data centers like they are inevitable.Like we should just accept them because technology is growing and corporations need somewhere to put servers. But I need you to understand something: We are notjust talking about servers. We are talking about transforming the places where people actually live. We are talking about taking open land, natural space, farmland, and future community space and replacing it with massive industrial buildings that most of us will never even step inside.Buildings that hum day and night.Buildings that consume enormous amounts of power.Buildings that create almost no meaningful long-term jobs for the people who actually live here. And for what? So giant tech companies can expand faster? Because that is what this really is.These projects are not being built for Arlington families. They are not being built for Snohomish County teachers, nurses, tradespeople,or small business owners. They are being built to serve corporations that will take the profits elsewhere while we are left carrying the environmental and infrastructure burden here. I am tired of communities like ours being asked to give up more and more while getting less and less in return. People moved here because this county still feels human.Because we still have trees, rivers, mountain views, farms, and neighborhoods where kids can grow up without feeling surrounded by endless industrial development. There is a reason people choose Snohomish County instead of dense urban industrial corridors. And once we lose that character,we do not get it back. Not everything valuable can be measured in tax revenue spreadsheets. What is the value of quiet? What is the value of open land? What is the value of protecting a community before it becomes unrecognizable? Because that is the fear people have right now. That one project becomes five.Five become twenty. And suddenly we wake up and realize our towns were transformed without residents ever truly being heard. And I also want to say this clearly: The argument that these facilities bring jobs"is misleading. These are not the kinds of developments that sustain broad local economies. After construction, many operate with surprisingly few employees. So we are being asked to permanently industrialize land in exchange for minimal community benefit. That is not smart growth. That is not sustainable planning. And it is certainly not community-centered leadership. You have the responsibility to think notjust about the next five years, but the next fifty. What will our children inherit? A county that protected its identity and natural beauty? Or a county that slowly sold itself off piece by piece because corporations promised investment? Please do not let Snohomish County become just another place consumed by industrial expansion in the name of"progress." Growth without balance is not progress. And development without community protection is not leadership. Please say no to more data centers in Snohomish County. Thank you. Signature* aaam 615p— &WAa
