Data center proposal.I tend not to get involved in politics and for the most part believe the government doesn't care and will do whatever they
want regardless of the people's opinion...especially in the state of Washington(hello Gas Tax). But this,my family feels so strongly about, that I
can't remain quiet.
Although it could potentially provide jobs,it is absolutely a horrible idea for several reasons.Thousands of residents across the US have been
very greatly negatively impacted by data center built in their city. The water issues alone it causes are horrific.Unsafe drinking water, low
pressure and brown. We in Washington have already been informed that there is a state drought and if the weather persists as it has and we
have another dry winter this will only be the start of a cyle.A data center will certainly not help.It is a environmental issue and a sociology
economic issue.
In addition to the water issues we also have to worry about the cost of electricity continuing to rise.In 2021,during the coldest winter months we
paid roughly$200 or less. Now,even having a warmer winter we are paying almost double, with an average of$350.Surely a data center will
make the cost of electricity rise as well. The people need a break. There is outrage across the US about the proposal of data centers. In fact,
Festus Missouri was so against it,they voted out every single council member who approved the building of their towns data center.
I doubt it would be hard to do the same here.
