Comments are as follows: 1. The fire lines for both buildings on this drawing need to be corrected. 2. The drawings show yard post indicators. There is no yard post indicator for either building and should therefore be removed from the drawings. 3. After the fire hydrant tee there was an 8x6 reducer installed to continue into the building, this needs to be shown on the drawings. 0 Page 1 i I City of Arlington Development Services Permit Center REQUEST FOR REVIEW NAME: ^ qj Sdq h(LZ BP #: 06- 70 DATE: Z/2 /C) K _RETURN THIS FORM BY: /,3166) PROJECT SUMMARY: r/(- i -C 1- RESPONDING DEPARTMENTS TOM C., FIRE DAVE A. The fusible alloy is captured in the cylinder of the solder capsule by a stainless steel ball. When the fusible alloy melts, the ball moves into the cylinder allowing the cylinder to fall away from the sprinkler. When this happens, the lever is released to spring free from the sprinkler so that all of the operating WSW parts clear from the waterway allowing the deflector to / distribute the discharging water. Except for the parts in the cylinder as mentioned above, the sprinkler components are made from Upright Pendent copper based alloys for maximum corrosion protection. Lead plated, wax coated or wax over lead plated sprinklers are available for specially severe environments. Chrome plated sprinklers are available { for decorative purposes. All sprinklers are individually hydrostatically tested. All sprinklers are identified as to their fusing point by markings that appear on several of the operating parts and by an identifying color that appears on the frame. Due to the possibility of unintended discharges caused by pressure surges, trapped air, or short retard times, waterflow switches that are monitoring wet pipe sprinkler systems should not be used as the sole initiating device to discharge AFFF, deluge, or chemical suppression systems TESTING The frequency of inspection and testing for the model VSR-F and its associated protective monitoring system should be in accordance with applicable NFPA Codes and Standards and/or the authority having jurisdiction(manufacturer recommends quarterly or more frequently). If provided, the inspector's test valve, that is usually located at the end of the most remote branch line, should always be used for test purposes If there are no provisions for testing the operation of the flow detection device on the system, application of the VSR-F is not recommended or advisable. A minimum flow of 10 gpm (38 Lpm) is required to activate this device. Precision machined bolt holes, key and mating surfaces assure concentricity and flatness to provide exact fit-up with flanged, lug, and wafer `! styles of pipe system equipment. A specially designed gasket provides a rr - leak-tight seal on both the pipe and the mating flange face. !% Working pressure ratings shown are for reference only and are based on ; r schedule 40 pipe. Specification & Data Dimensions: ANSI B16.3 Thread: ANSI B 2.1 NPT Paddico Materal: Ductile Iron ASTM A536 Max. Working Pressure: 300 psi wwww.paddico.com Approvals: FM. UL, ULC Wrench. Standard Pipe Wrench Installation Apply Teflon tape or high quality Teflon pipe joint compound on the pipe threads and tighten three and one-half to four turns beyond hand tight Note Paddico Ductile iron Threaded Fittings provide more strength r and corrosion resistant than cast iron fittings.Paddico ductile iron fittings are more durable clue to the extra:precious elements added during the process of casting. This provides an advantage '^•' over cast iron as the fittings are not as susceptible to leaks or cracking. Paddico ductile iron fittings are lighter than cast iron, making them easier to handle and install. ATTENTION Caution: Installers who have not used ductile iron fittings before should be cautioned that the fittings have a higher tensile strength than steel sR pipe. Therefore, over tightening the fitting may damage the pipe thread and cause leaks. There should:be about one half,a turn difference µ between cast iron (depends on the thread of cast iron fittings) and ductile iron fittings. Apply Teflon tape or high quality pipe Joint compound on the pipe thread and tighten three and one-half turns beyond ' hand tight. No more than four turns! ' 'fie.- ;• Caution for automatic make-on machine users: Exercise special caution in setting the machine to r = the proper parameters prior to tightening fittings - onto the male pipe threads. 4 Distributed By M =4 F/1TINGS WELD OUTLETS .1 IXvtJnn cJSmr Yc'w.w.ce INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS The hole cut in the run pipe may be done prior to welding or after welding of the outlet fitting. If holes are cut prior to welding, see recommended hole size in chart on other side. • Star Outlet Fittings are designed to be installed using only one weld pass. " 1/2" size outlets have a heavy cross section which helps maintain shape and threads during shipping and from weld/heat distortion after installation. • 3/4%2"size outlets maintain a relative uniform wall thickness in the contoured section. Heat settings can easily be set to allow for full penetration welds while reducing the probability of burn through. The weld area is designed adequately distanced from the threads such that the welding process should not distort the threads. It is recommended that the weld temperature be only as hot as needed to fully penetrate the materials being welded. Excessive heat may cause the outlet fitting to expand excessively resulting in threads not gauging properly after cooling. NFPA 13 requires the use of retaining straps with all beam clamps installed in earthquake areas. Satisfies requirements of NFPA 13 (1999) 6-4.7.1. Important Note—Good installation practice of a retaining strap requires that the strap be held tightly and securely to all component parts of the assembly. Therefore a locking mecha- nism of some kind such as a hex nut or the beveled locking slot on the TOLCOTm Fig. 69R will provide a more secure B reliable installation.
