I found that the sign as presently constructed would not withstand an 80- MPH wind load without additional bracing. A sketch of the required bracing is enclosed. OLYMPIC AVE. • SUITE 208 • ARLINGTON, WA 98223 (360) 435-8167 0 FAX: (360) 403-0188 November 26, 2002 Inspection request for a final on a sign received for Kaffine Kafe at 18825 67th Ave NE Called number on inspection request and spoke with owner, let her know that I would be right out to do the inspection. At the site I asked the owner for the permit which she handed to me, the gentleman went out side to the sign with me. I told him that according to the plans and code that the posts and supports needed to be of treated wood or of natural resistance to decay, he stated that the sign was put in the ground prior to issuance of the permit and that the only reason that a permit was issued was because the mayor came to them and told him that they needed a permit for it. He (the gentleman) was quite angry with the fact that the wood needed to be treated. He then went back into the building and I went back to the front window and she asked what was wrong and why he was angry and he told her that he was tired of the games the city was playing and then he calmed down. Then they started taking to me about the issues with the road closure (67th) and the fact that she lost her house and a pending law suit concerning the city. I told them that I had only been with the city about a month and that I know nothing about the road closure or what has taken place prior to today. s � � � ' .�.• rFr, ��; r � �� k i �• . a OFFICE Copy KAFFEINE KAFE Kaffeine Kafe is located at: 18825 671h Ave.,NE Arlington Washington 98223 The sign will be located approximately 35 feet from the Northwest corner of the main building, and 15 feet East of the sidewalk boarding 67th Ave. NE. The sign will be facing to the Southeast, being in full view of customers driving in from the East side of the building. The sign is angled to face away from 67'Ave.,NE. The sign itself is approximately 3 foot tall and 10 feet long, and suspended approximately 9 feet with 4"x 6" supports. The 4"x 6" supports are 12 feet with 3 feet concreted into the ground. The sign is braced to the supports using 2"x 6"back braces. Surrounding the sign is a flower bed,which is constructed in the front and side of brick,the rear is railroad ties (new). The flower bed is approximately 16" deep, and is 6' x 14' (extending approximately 2' pass the support post.). The sign will read"Kaffeine Kafe" in black letters, with a pink background, to match the decor of the main building.
