The value should be $207,800.00 based on national published figures. This would make the permit fee $1,017.50 3. The plan check fee as required by the building code should be 65% of the permit fee, which is greater than $50.00 Section 304(c) . The plan check fee should be $661.40 4. Drawings should be prepared by an architect or engineer registered in the state of Washington. Structural designs should be submitted. Section 302(b) and state RCW 5. Trusses should be designed by an engineer registered in the state of Washington. Structural designs should be submitted. Section 302(b) 6. Building type of construction (V-N) and occupancy group should be shown on the drawings. (B-3) Section 302(c) 7. Structural general notes should be added to the drawings showing concrete strengths, wood species and grades, type of rebar, bearing value, etc. 8. An area separation wall should be installed where the fire wall is shown on the drawings. The area separa- tion wall should be 2-hour construction, extending from 'the foundation to a point 30 inches above the roof. See Section 505(e)3 for exceptions. The 2-hour wall shall be two layers of 5/8 inch type X gypsum wallboard in each side of 2 X 4 wood studs 16" o.c. (Table 43-B, item 73) 11. The end walls which appear to be the east and west walls should be 1-hour walls with no openings less than 5'0" from property line and 3/4 pro-rated doors otherwise. (Section 504(b)) 12. End walls shall have parapets not less than 30 inches in height above the roof. Section 1709. 13. Complete structural calculations should be submitted for approval. This includes trusses, purlins, columns, and doors. The adequacy of the structural system shall include resistance of seismic and wind loads as well as vertical loads. The drawings should indicate structural members and framing as required by the calculations. Structural design of the foundation should be included. Section 2303. 14. My comments are based upon the normal interpretation of the code, but are not the law of your jurisdiction. Because you have the responsibility of enforcement you have the right to disagree with my interpretation. However, I do want to point out that the City of Arlington could be held responsible for any damages resulting from injury caused by failure to comply with the recog- nized interpretation of the code.
