Hi Angela,
Thank you for getting the information to me. I work 12 hour shifts and have not had the chance to get to this until
now.
The revisions (46 beam at splice and move 44, etc) look totally fine. I hope to get the material Monday 7-30-
07. Do I need to bring in a revised drawing? Another question we have is: what is the maximum distance we
can have between the 44 support beams? I believe I heard 8'was the max. If so, I'd actually like to put the 4x4
we are moving close to the 46 (for aesthetic reasons, and to allow a wide space to put lawn furniture under...)
I'll be checking email a various points throughout the day as it is my day off.

at the splice to the new midspan of beam and add a 4x6 at beam splice." Please see that attached drawing with
`redlines' for a visual of what this describes. Please let me know if that is workable. If so, I believe that the permit
can be issued.

Hi Ruth-Anne,
I apologize for getting back to you so late. You do not need to submit a revised drawing. If you construct the deck
according to the redlines that I sent, then it should be fine. With respect to your question on the maximum
distance between the 4x4 support beams: the 4x4 support beams need to go to the stair side of the deck. The
maximum distance between the 4x4 and 4x6 is 7 feet due to the cantilever for the steps. If you construct it this
way a revised drawing is also not necessary. Please let me know if you need any clarification. If you construct it
either of these ways it is fine; I will print the permit for you to pick up.

1. Three (3) complete sets of plans on 8.5"X 11" paper which reflect all of the information noted in
the Site Improvement and Drainage Plan Requirements for Residential Construction.
B. ❑ FOOTING PLAN (Minimum '/4" Scale)
1. Show location of new footings with section cuts and dimensions.
2. Show spacing of anchor bolts, location, and type of holddown fasteners to the foundation (per
registered design professional, if required).
C. Y1 DECK FRAMING PLAN (Minimum 1/4" Scale)
1. Show new deck footprint location at existing house, with necessary structural details and
attachment to the house.
2. Call out materials to be used for deck framing.
3. Framing details to include solid blocking,joist_ span,joist hangers identification, knee brace
requirements, ect.
4. Provide post to beam connection specifications and ledger attachment details.
5. Provide dimensions for stairs, with details showing rise, run, handrails and guardrails where
required.

1. Provide the height above finish grade for the deck floor at each corner.
2. Provide details of all connections, from foundation to walls, pier to post, post to beams and rafters
or trusses to walls.

separately. These permits require a separate permit application.
