Re: Fire Suppression Shop Drawing Review Comments/Approval
The Arlington Fire Department has completed a review of the Fire Suppression shop drawing submittal and
approved the issuance of the permit with the following conditions:
1. Permit and set of approved plans to remain on site during installation.
2. Significant deviations from approved plans made during installation shall be required to be resubmitted for
review prior to inspections: may include hangers, earthquake bracing, sprinkler locations and pipe re-
routing that could impact hydraulic calculations. Failure to submit revisions could result in cancellation of
an inspection while a review of an as-built resubmittal is conducted.
3. Hangers and earthquake bracing shall be installed in accordance with NFPA 13.
4. Yellow highlighted sprinklers are less than 6 feet apart per the drawing. NFPA 13 Section 8.6.3.4.1
requires that sprinklers be spaced at least 6 feet apart unless certain other conditions are met.
5. Hydrostatic test required: Minimum of 200 psi for 2 hours minimum.
6. Sprinkler system Contractor’s Material and Test Certificate shall be submitted prior to close out of permit.
7. Final as-built drawings shall be submitted prior to close out of permit.
8. Owner shall be provided with a set of approved plans and associated documents for their files.
9. Call at least 48 hours in advance to schedule inspections.
Items noted above are conditions on the issued permit and shall be verified as part of the final inspection of the
system at project completion. Final approval will not be provided until all conditions are verified.
If there are any questions please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Mike Makela
