I Hello, I have a roof customer ,,vho needs a roof but has limited funds w.Lt can not afford new sheeting. The current roof is shake and has skip boards that are 3/4" and rafters or trusses 16 inch on center,would the installation of tight fitting filler boards to complete the roof as shipboard style planking for the sheeting recluirements for the new asphalt shingle installation be of any concern? The roof will be covered in a synthetic tar paper. Do you have any concerns that would void any installation warranties or bring any future concerns? I know that new sheeting is better but the customer can not afford the high cost of new OSB. The IBC code for 2015 says that 24" rafter spans can use a 1/2 inch filler board for skip board,the boards I would install would be 3/4 inch to match the existing boards.
