A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARLINGTON APPROVING THE
SMOKEY POINT BOULEVARD CORRIDOR PREFERRED ALTERNATIVE AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO
PROCEED WITH FINAL DESIGN AND PUBLIC OUTREACH
WHEREAS, the City applied for and received a federal grant for design of the Smokey
Point Boulevard Corridor Project; and
WHEREAS, City staff contracted with Perteet Engineering to conduct public outreach
and produce design documents for a preferred corridor alternative; and
WHEREAS, public input and comment has been received during the design process; and
WHEREAS, a draft concept of the preferred corridor alternative design plan was
presented to council at the September 26, 2022 council meeting; and
WHEREAS, the preferred alternative is the best suited to provide transportation system
safety improvements, mobility improvements, and neighborhood improvements to meet the
Smokey Point community's needs into the future, and
WHEREAS, it appears to be in the best public interest to allow staff and consultant to
proceed with the proposed design plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Arlington approves of the Smokey
Point Boulevard Corridor preferred alternative and directs City staff and the Perteet design
team to continue the design of the Smokey Point Boulevard Corridor Project as presented.
