A RESOLUTION DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND WAIVING
COMPETITIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS DUE TO A
COLLAPSE IN THE GLENEAGLE RESERVOIR ROOF
WHEREAS, a collapse in the City of Arlington's Gleneagle reservoir roof has resulted in
fluctuations in water pressure and a reduction in the city's water supply available for fire
protection and has potential to impact the health and safety of citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City of Arlington Water Treatment Plant and distribution system supplies
all water within the City of Arlington; and
WHEREAS, the City's investigation has concluded that the reservoir roof will need
immediate repair in order to get the reservoir online; and
WHEREAS, any major failure or large fire could cause unsafe and dangerous conditions,
requiring immediate action;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arlington Washington does hereby
resolve as follows:
1. The City Council finds an emergency exists with the collapse at the City's Gleneagle
reservoir roof potentially impacting health and safety of Arlington citizens and
immediate threat to the proper performance of essential functions if immediate
action is not taken, and therefore competitive bidding requirements for the work
necessary as a result of the emergency are hereby waived.
