In light of the opinions of the Police Chief and Supt. of Public Property I believe it is unwise to open this drive- way. Traffic is already congested in that area (7-Eleven, Stillaguamish Square and intersection of 530) . Mulligan, Code Enforcement Officerpr SUBJECT: Pilchuch Rental Pilchuck Rental is proposing, and have taken out a building permit for a structure to be located at 525 West Ave. ,riext property South of the 7-11 Store. Recognizing a possible traffic problem, the owner of Pilchuck Rentals would like to install a one-way driveway, entering from West Ave. and exiting through the paved alley to the East. Also having looked at the side wal1Cs in front of the property on West Ave. , he would like to replace the entire sidewalk as he puts om the storm drain connectors , sewer connection and water service. On the drawings it shows a 25 foot entrance , which could be limited to 12 or 14 feet, in order to preclude two way traffic. POLICE DEPARTMENT X ARLI NGTON, WASH I NGTON FROM THE OFFICE OF CITY CLERK •35-3YY1 CHIEF OF POLICE POLICE DEPT 435-232A I?`L: December 13, 1983 To: Howard Christianson Re: Pilchuck Rentals & Sales Inc. From: Chief, John Rickard Dear Howard, In response to a request by Pilchuck Rentals & Sales Inc. to make a street entrance off West Ave at their property. I would like to state that I am opposed to their request at this time. I have personally observed the area and the flow of traffic and find that there is a large volume of vehicles entering West Ave at that location both from the 7-11 Store and the Stillaguamish Square. I have also observed large trucks parked there occasionally. I am aware that this entrance is requested for -in coming traffic only, but I have seen these entrance only locations violated after a short period of time. Examples are: 1. No left -turns out of the 7411 Store 2. Coming out of the alley and parking lot behind the P.U.D. 3. The drive--in window of the Banks. I feel that an entrance would be used properly for a short period of time, then we would see people use it as an exit also. I think the alley behind would be adequate to handle their business.
