A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ARLINGTON DECLARING USED
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT AS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING THEIR SALE
WHEREAS, the City frequently comes into the possession of used computers,
servers, monitors, printers, phones and other information technology equipment which have
no value except scrap value and which sometimes cost money to dispose of; and
WHEREAS, the used information technology equipment are of no use to the City
and are therefore surplus to the needs of the City;
NOW THEREFORE, the City of Arlington, acting by and through its City Council, does
hereby resolve as follows:
1. Any used information technology equipment determined by the Information
Services Department to be outdated, worth less than the cost of repair, or
valueless shall be and hereby declared surplus to the needs of the city.
2. Staff is instructed to sell all surplus information technology equipment for the
available price at private sale or properly dispose of those that it is unable to
sell.
3. Items declared surplus must be approved by the City Administrator and/or
Finance Director prior to auction or disposal.
4. This resolution replaces Resolution No. 786.
Passed by the Arlington City Council of the City of Arlington at a regular meeting on
the 17th of May, 2021.
