City of Arlington Council Agenda Bill AGENDA ITEM: ATTACHMENT A COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 25, 2008 Workshop SUBJECT: Right of Way Vacation Request for portion of Alley in Block 40 of Haller City and a portion of Haller Ave. DEPARTMENT OF ORIGIN: COADS - Engineering ATTACHMENTS: 1) Map showing location EXPENDITURES REQUESTED: N/A BUDGET CATEGORY: N/A LEGAL REVIEW: N/A DESCRIPTION: A public hearing is scheduled for September 2, 2008 before the City Council regarding the request by the Utility Department to vacate portions of the alley in block 40 of Haller City and portions of Haller Ave. in that same area. The Planning Commission will be reviewing this request at their meeting of August 19th. Staff will be reporting the results of the Planning Commission meeting at the workshop. HISTORY: Over the past several years the City of Arlington has been acquiring property in the vicinity of the Utilities Complex to allow for growth of that facility. The City is now ready to proceed with the further development of the site and must go through the right of way vacation process to clean up the ownership elements of their site. The City is the property owner abutting all sides of this request. HISTORY: In conjunction with work being completed by Whidbey Island Bank, the Wal-Mart property and the new Fire Station Site - the Public Works Director and City Engineer have been negotiating the dedication of necessary right of way for installation of the required Transportation Infrastructure at this location. ALTERNATIVES: No action at this time. RECOMMENDED ACTION: No action at this time. Acceptance of the dedication of right of way from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be included as a Consent Agenda item for the Council meeting of September 2, 2008. This would be the right of way located in the northwest quadrant of the intersection.
