HomeMy WebLinkAboutSigned Minutes 08-26-13Minutes of the Arlington City Council Workshop Council Chambers 110 East Third Street August 26, 2013 Councilmembers Present: Dick Butner, Debora Nelson, Marilyn Oertle, Chris Raezer, Ken Klein, and Steve Baker Staff Present: Allen Johnson, Kristin Banfield, Jim Chase, Jim Kelly, Eric Scott, Rob Putnam, Deana Dean, and Steve Peiffle Council Members Absent: Randy Tendering - Excused Also Known to be Present: Jesica Stickles, Jan Schuette, Mike Hopson, Duane Wilcoxon, and Sarah Arney. Mayor Tolbert called the meeting to order at 7:OOPM. Marilyn Oertle moved to approve the agenda; Chris Raezer seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote. WORKSHOP ITEMS — NO ACTION WAS TAKEN 67th Ave NE Final Phase Update: City Engineer Eric Scott presented a status report on the progress of the project via PowerPoint presentation. Presentation and discussion with Mr. Scott answering council questions. Change Order #1 to the Airport Blvd Ph2 Construction Contract. - Public Works Director Jim Kelly spoke regarding the proposed change order for additional roadway excavation. Change in work requested is $76,634.00. Mr. Kelly answered council questions throughout. Sale of Building 75A and a land lease for Lot 75A: Airport Director Rob Putnam spoke regarding the proposal received from Duane Wilcoxon to purchase building 75A and make both building and site improvements in exchange for a 40 year lease. Discussion followed with Mr. Putnam answering council questions. July 2013 Financial Report: Finance Director Jim Chase reviewed July 2013 figures. 2013 Goals Update: Assistant City Administrator Kristin Banfield provided an overview of the actions taken to implement the City goals which were adopted in November 2012. She highlighted the ESCI Meeting on September 5, 2013 and reminded staff of the goal to complete ICS-100. A previous update was provided to Council in February 2013. A previous update was provided to Council in February 2013. Skateboarding Race Road Closure: Kristin Banfield reviewed this event which is sponsored by the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau and the International Distance Skateboard Association. The event is on October 12, 2013 from 8-9pm. A map of the proposed route was provided including road closure information. Miscellaneous Council Items City Administrator Allen Johnson commented on the UGA expansion. Mayor Tolbert welcomed the boy scouts. The den leader introduced the group which is from Lake Stevens. Debora Nelson commented on the Outback Power grand opening and tour on August 22, 2013 and complimented Mayor Tolbert on her comments. PUBLIC COMMENT None, EXECUTIVE SESSION None.
