HomeMy WebLinkAboutSigned Minutes 02-11-13NlF7'ir Y�L I N Council Chambers 110 East Third Street February 11, 2013 Minutes of the Arlington City Council Workshop Dick Butner, Randy Tendering, Debora Nelson, Marilyn Oertle, Chris Raezer, Ken Klein, Steve Baker, Mayor Tolbert, Allen Johnson, Kristin Banfield, Police Chief Nelson Beazley with Police Officers DeWitt and Quintrall, Jim Kelly, Eric Scott, Jan Bauer, Steve Peiffle — City Attorney Council Members Absent: There were no Council members absent. Also Known to be Present: Mike Hopson - Airport Commission and Bob Nelson Mayor Tolbert called the meeting to order at 7:OOPM. Marilyn Oertle moved to approve the Agenda, and Steve Baker seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote approving the Workshop Agenda. Makech Easement City Engineer Eric Scott addressed the requested easement which is a part of the Arlington Advanced Manufacturing Park. No action was taken; this will be addressed at the next meeting. Authorization for Unplanned Mower Replacement Public Works Director Jim Kelly spoke to the mower which is in need of repairs and the request for a new replacement mower instead of fixing up the old one. This mower was scheduled to be replaced in two years. A split purchase would be made with the Cemetery in an internal transfer of funds. Mr. Kelly then answered Council questions. Sole Source Resolution - Water Meters Jim Kelly gave a history of water meters and spoke of the lone supplier they wish to use for the replacements. Discussion followed. Police Department Presentation Arlington Police Chief Nelson Beazley introduced and recognized Officers DeWitt and Quintrall, as two who serve as 'glue' to the force by providing an ongoing committed service and he stated that these officers deserve to be recognized. With the use of a power point presentation Chief Beazley gave a report on the Arlington Police Department, including information on the Department structure, the value of partnerships, work with the Arlington School District, and information on the Snohomish Regional Drug & Gang Task Force, the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team, Snohomish County DUI & Target Zero Traffic Safety Task Force, US Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force, and several other partnerships. Discussion and questions took place throughout and at the conclusion of the presentation. MISCELLANEOUS COUNCIL ITEMS There were no Miscellaneous Council Items. PUBLIC COMMENT James Oosterwyk, Chiropractor, 113 W Division, Arlington, stated that on Tuesday at 1:50PM a nearby espresso station was impacted by a robbery, and he was very impressed with the police action at the incident. He voiced concern that there were no tracking dogs available at the time, but then became Page 1 of 2 Minutes of the City of Arlington. City Council Meeting February 11, 2013 available nearly an hour later. Mr. Oosterwyk then asked for an update on the status of a tracking dog and how he might be of help. A discussion followed.
