HomeMy WebLinkAboutSigned minutes 5-29-12y�tlnrc't°� Council Chambers 110 East Third Street May 29, 2012 Minutes of the Arlington City Council Workshop Dick Butner Randy Tendering, Debora Nelson, Marilyn Oertle, Ken Klein, Steve Baker, Mayor Tolbert, Kristin Banfield, Jim Chase, Police Chief Nelson Beazley, Paul Ellis, Jim Kelly, Eric Scott, David Kuhl, Cristy Brubaker, Jan Bauer, and Steve Peiffle — City Attorney Council Members Absent: Chris Raezer Also Known to be Present: Maxine Jenft — Cemetery Board, Mayor Tolbert called the meeting to order at TOOPM Marilyn Oertle moved to approve the Agenda, and Steve Baker seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote approving the Workshop Agenda. WORKSHOP ITEMS — NO FINAL ACTION WAS TAKEN Renew Interlocal Agreement with Snohomish Regional Drug & Gang Task Force Police Chief Nelson Beazley asked to renew the Interlocal with the task force, speaking to the rate increase for the requested agreement. He then answered Council questions April Financial Report to Council With the use of a power point presentation Finance Director Jim Chase gave an update on the April 2012 Financial Report Community Development Director David Kuhl gave information on building permits and the current construction that is happening. Throughout the presentation Mr Chase answered Council questions and addressed Council comments. Airport Blvd — Apparent low bidder of Construction Contract City Engineer Eric Scott spoke to the Airport Boulevard Project. He reviewed the bidding process and distributed the results of the bid opening of May 24, 2012. The next process will be to check bidders and references, followed by a request for Council approval of the chosen company. Mr. Scott and Public Works Director Jim Kelly also answered Council questions. Retail Competitiveness Analysis: Shea Carr Jewell Contract Amendment #2 & McConkey Study Public Works Director Jim Kelly and Assistant to the City Administrator for Special Projects Paul Ellis spoke to the Competitiveness Analysis and need to discover the reason retail business is not coming to Arlington. In addition, the City had contracted with Sea Carr Jewell to update the City's Transportation Comprehensive Plan, and while the work is nearly complete, additional efforts are necessary. Discussion and questions followed. Miscellaneous Council Items City Administrator Allen Johnson will be returning Monday on a limited schedule. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no members of the Public who wished to speak on matters on the Agenda The meeting was adjourned at 7:49PM.
