HomeMy WebLinkAboutSigned Minutes 08-8-112NE Council Chambers 110 East Third Street August 8, 2011 Minutes of the Arlington City Council Workshop Dick Butner, Sally Lien, Marilyn Oertle, Chris Raezer, Linda Byrnes, Steve Baker, Mayor Larson, Allen Johnson, Kristin Banfield, Police Chief Nelson Beazley, Jim Kelly, Jan Bauer, Steve Peiffle — City Attorney Council Members Absent: Scott Solla - excused Also Known to be Present: Jim Rankin, Ken Klein, Sarah Arney, Dale Duskin, and Kirk Boxleitner Mayor Larson called the meeting to order at 7:OOPM. Steve Baker moved to approve the Agenda, and Sally Lien seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote approving the Workshop Agenda. Eagle Sculpture Donation Sarah Arney representing the Arlington Arts Council addressed the AAC's proposed donation of an eagle and its suggested location. She requested Council approval. Moratorium Regarding Medical Marijuana Collective Gardens Police Chief Nelson Beazley spoke to the moratorium that would allow city staff time to evaluate Cannabis Dispensaries and Collective Gardens in the area of land use and zoning issues. Discussion followed, and Chief Beazley answered Council questions. Draft Ordinance - Golf Cart Zone With the use of a power point presentation Public Works Director Jim Kelly addressed the Gleneagle golf cart request. Throughout the presentation Mr. Kelly, Chief Beazley and Assistant City Administrator Kristin Banfield addressed Council questions. Within the presentation Mr. Kelly reviewed recommendations from the study. 67th Ave Trunk Infrastructure Study Presentation With the use of a power point presentation Mr. Kelly gave an update of the 67th Avenue Trunk Sewer Main Study regarding accommodations of future growth. Throughout the presentation Mr. Kelly answered Council questions. Selection of Council Representative for City's Unified Board of Trustees for Volunteer Firefighters and Police Reserve Officers Ms. Banfield spoke to the need for a Council representative on the Unified Board of Trustees for volunteer Firefighters and Police Reserve Officers. Sally Lien was chosen representative to this position.
