HomeMy WebLinkAboutSigned Minutes 06-08-15ti' rrr�r -y�tlNG'��� Council Chambers 110 East Third Street June 8, 2015 Minutes of the Arlington City Council Workshop Councilmembers Present: Jan Schuette, Marilyn Oertle, Chris Raezer, Debora Nelson, Jesica Stickles, and Randy Tendering. Staff Present: Mayor Barbara Tolbert, Paul Ellis, Kristin Garcia, Sheri Amundson, Chris Young, Marc Hayes, Dave Ryan, Tim Mensonides, Bruce Stedman, Jonathan Ventura, Wendy Van Der Meersche, and City Attorney Steve Peiffle. Council Members Absent: None Also Known to be Present: Reid Shockey, Jacob Kukuk, Mike Hopson, Mike Britt, Christy Brubaker, Craig Christenson, Tony La Salata, Darcy Jones, and Holly Sloane -Buchanan. Mayor Tolbert called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the pledge of allegiance followed. Mayor Pro Tern Chris Raezer moved to approve the agenda; Randy Tendering seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote. WORKSHOP ITEMS — NO ACTION WAS TAKEN 2015 Comprehensive Plan Update and Rezone Requests Community & Economic Development Director Chris Young briefly spoke about the 2015 Comprehensive Plan Update and introduced Reid Shockey from Shockey Planning Group. With the use of a PowerPoint presentation, Reid reviewed the 2015 Comprehensive Plan Update. Council questions and discussion followed. Chris then introduced the rezone requests and staff recommendations for Willet, Allen, and WD Arlington, LLC. Brief discussion and council questions followed. Annual Renewal of Interlocal Agreement with Snohomish Regional Drug and Gang Task Force Public Safety Director Bruce Stedman introduced the yearly Interlocal Agreement with Snohomish Regional Drug & Gang Task Force (SRDGTF) for 2015-2016. Brief discussion and council questions followed. Sole Source Resolution-GroundLink VA Ground Communications Outlet Airport Operations Coordinator Tim Mensonides spoke about the airport's need for a digital ground communication outlet with sole source resolution to provide pilots with reliable ground reception at the airport. Brief discussion and council questions followed. Haller Park Restroom/Shelter Project Permit Center Manager Marc Hayes introduced the proposed contract with (vary and Associates for architectural services for the Haller Park Restroom/Shelter Project. Brief discussion and council questions followed. Street Vacation for Portion of 67th Ave NE Right of Way Permit Center Manager Marc Hayes spoke regarding a Street Vacation Petition for a portion of 67th Avenue NE Right of Way located at 210 S West Street (Twin City Foods Inc. site). Marc indicated that at next Monday's council meeting June 15, a public hearing would be held, and council action would be required. Miscellaneous Council Items None Public Comment Darcy Jones stated that he has been working with Brekhus Beach homeowners and asked about the status of the 2015 Comprehensive Plan update and if Brekhus Beach would remain in the city limits. City Attorney Steve Peiffle indicated that the public hearing would be next Monday, June 15, for final public comments and council action would be required. Reid Shockey indicated that Brekhus Beach would remain in the City limits of Arlington. The meeting was adjourned at 7:57 p.m. Barbara Tolbert, Mayor Page 2 of 2
