Councilmembers Present: Mike Hopson, Jan Schuette, Debora Nelson, Chris Raezer, Sue Weiss, and
Jesica Stickles.
Staff Present: Paul Ellis, Heather Logan, Kristin Garcia, Jonathan Ventura, Sarah Lopez, and Deana
Dean.
Council Members Absent: Marilyn Oertle (excused). Mayor Pro Tern Debora Nelson noted Mayor
Barbara Tolbert was absent (excused) tonight also.
Also Known to be Present: Doug Buell
Mayor Pro Tem Debora Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the pledge of allegiance
followed.
Councilmember Raezer moved to approve the agenda. Councilmember Schuette seconded the motion,
which passed with a unanimous vote.
WORKSHOP ITEMS — NO ACTION WAS TAKEN
Budget Discussion
Finance Director Kristin Garcia provided a budget review including information from the October 1, 2016
budget retreat. Council questions and comments followed.
Request for Authorization to File Suit — Fralick Property
City Administrator Paul Ellis spoke regarding the request for code enforcement to authorize suit against
the Fralick property homeowner for cleanup. Council questions and comments followed. This matter is
authorized for next week's consent agenda.
Special Event Street Closure Requests
Recreation and Communications Manager Sarah Lopez spoke to the request for street closures for the
Pumpkin Roll and Santa Parade. Council questions and comments followed. This matter is authorized
for next week's consent agenda.
Miscellaneous Council Items
None.
Public Comment
Doug Buell from the Arlington Times introduced himself and spoke regarding his role at Arlington Times.
Executive Session
Paul Ellis indicated a need for executive session to discuss pending or potential litigation [RCW
42.30.110(1)(i)] to last approximately 20 minutes.
