City Council Workshop

Councilmembers Present: Mike Hopson, Marilyn Oertle, Debora Nelson, Joshua Roundy,
Sue Weiss, Jesica Stickles and Jan Schuette.
Council Members Absent: None.
Staff Present: Mayor Barbara Tolbert, Paul Ellis, Jonathan Ventura, Dave Kraski, James
Trefry, Marc Hayes, Sheri Amundson, and Kristin Banfield.
Also Known to be Present: Doug Buell, Sarah Arney.
Mayor Tolbert called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm, and the pledge of allegiance followed.
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Mayor Pro Tem Marilyn Oertle moved to approve the agenda as presented. Councilmember
Debora Nelson seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote.
WORKSHOP ITEMS - NO ACTION WAS TAKEN
Police Chief Employment Agreement Renewal
City Administrator Paul Ellis presented the employment agreement renewal for Police Chief
Jonathan Ventura. Discussion followed.
Community and Economic Development Department Staffing
City Administrator Paul Ellis presented a proposal for the creation of a second Permit
Technician II position in the Community and Economic Development Department, promote
one employee to the position and allow them to fill an entry level Permit Technician position.
Discussion followed.
Resolution and Interlocal Agreement to participate in wildland fire deployments
Fire Chief Dave Kraski reviewed the proposed resolution and interlocal agreement allowing
the Arlington Fire Department to participate in Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fire
training, certification, and deployment. Discussion followed.
April 2018 Financial Report
Assistant Finance Director Sheri Amundson reviewed the April 2018 Financial Report and
answered Council questions.
