I NSPI RE ;fi11v 11oA".1Ih Ua r.I Special Joint Meeting Minutes Skagit Regional Health (PHD #1 of Skagit County) Board of Commissioners; Stilly Valley Health Connections (PHD #3 of Snohomish County) Board of Commissioners; Arlington City Council; and Arlington Public Schools Board of Directors Monday, September 30, 2019, 6:30 pm Byrnes Performing Arts Center — Arlington High School Skagit Regional Health (PHD #1 of Skagit County) Board of Commissioners; Stilly Valley Health Connections (PHD #3 of Snohomish County) Board of Commissioners; Arlington City Council; and Arlington Public Schools Board of Directors held a joint meeting on Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd, Arlington, WA to discuss matters of mutual interest. In Attendance Arlington Public Schools Board Members: Kay Duskin, Judy Fay, Marc Rosson, Jim Weiss and Jeff Huleatt Student Advisor: Brooklynn Hill Superintendent: Chrys Sweeting City of Arlington Council Members: Sue Weiss, Marilyn Oertle, Mike Hopson, Jesica Stickles, Debora Nelson and Jan Schuette Mayor: Barbara Tolbert City Administrator: Paul Ellis Skagit Regional Health Commissioners: Peter Browning, Bruce Lisser, Jim Hobbs, Jeffrey Miller and Julie Blazek. Regional VP and COO: Danny Vera Regional VP of Operations: Jola Barnett Stilly Valley Health Connections Commissioners: Tim Cavanagh (arrived at 7:03 pm), John Meno Superintendent: Ardis Schmiege Also in attendance, were Arlington Public Schools staff members Kari Henderson -Burke, Eric DeJong, Gary Sabol and Julie Davis; City of Arlington attorney Steve Peiffle; and Stilly Valley Health Connections staff member Erika Coghill. Call to Order Arlington Public Schools hosted the meeting. School Board President, Kay Duskin, called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Pledge of Allegiance The pledge of allegiance was conducted. Approval of the Agenda Arlington School Board Director Jim Weiss moved to approve the agenda as presented. Director Marc Rosson seconded the motion, which passed unanimously by voice vote. Introductions Each attendee introduced himself/herself. Activity Chrys Sweeting, Kari Henderson -Burke, Paul Ellis, Jola Barnett and Ardis Schmiege led participants in an activity to determine a project or activity that this joint group could take on. Table groups spent time brainstorming ideas and listed them on chart paper. After each group discussed ideas, a spokesperson for each table described their ideas. Participants then walked around and selected their top two choices. The full group then discussed which topic rose to the top. The facilitators will work on a plan for next steps and a final project will be discussed at the )April 2020 joint meeting. Closing Comments Chrys Sweeting provided "See Something, Say Something" tip line magnets to all, noting that these have been provided to every school family and employee in Arlington Public Schools. The tip line is monitored 24/7 and will be advertised throughout the schools in a variety of ways. Ardis Schmiege shared that, as of Sept 9, Public Hospital District #3 purchased the old Alfy's building in Smokey Point. It will be remodeled for the District's administrative space, where community health services and resources will be provided to the community. Danny Vera shared that Skagit Regional Health continues to recruit specialty doctors, including an orthopedic surgeon and cardiac care doctors. The orthopedic clinic next to hospital will be moving out to the larger Smokey Point Clinic and the cardiac care unit will move to the building near the hospital. Dr. Sweeting took a moment to thank the Arlington High School Culinary Arts students and their advisor, Teri Bravomejia, for a wonderful dinner and dessert.
