HomeMy WebLinkAboutSigned Minutes 02-03-25Minutes of the Arlington City Council Meeting Council Chambers 110 East 3rd Street Monday, February 3, 2025 Councilmembers Present: Heather Logan, Rob Toyer, Michele Blythe, Yvonne Gallardo-Van Ornam, Leisha Nobach, and Jan Schuette. Council Members Absent: Debora Nelson, excused. Staff Present: Mayor Don Vanney, Paul Ellis, Mandy Kruger, Sheri Amundson, Jim Kelly, Deputy City Attorney Emily Romanenko, Chelsea Brewer, and Wendy Van Der Meersche. Also Known to be Present: Kathy Vanney, Randy Nobach, Nicholas Bleken, Erica Knapp, Christopher Edenburn, Sheri Kelly, Nate Nehring and son, Tim Abrahamson, Holly Sloan - Buchanan, Steve Maisch, Heather Watland, Sid Logan, Nate Senff, Drew Bono, Al Schreiber, and others. Mayor Don Vanney called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., and the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call followed. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Mayor Pro Tem Michele Blythe moved to approve the agenda as presented. Councilmember Rob Toyer seconded the motion, which passed with a unanimous vote. INTRODUCTION OF SPECIAL GUESTS AND PRESENTATIONS Mayor Vanney introduced County Councilmember Nate Nehring, who presented a check from Snohomish County for $100,000 for the Jensen Park Pump Track and one for $23,309 for the Post Middle School Crosswalk project. PROCLAMATIONS PUBLIC COMMENT Nicholas Blekan, Arlington, provided comments about the Post Middle School levy. Erica Knapp, Arlington, provided comments about the Post Middle School levy. Christopher Edenburn, Arlington, provided comments about the Post Middle School levy. Sheri Kelly, Arlington, provided comments about the Post Middle School levy. Kirk Normand provided comments regarding North County Regional Fire Authority. Pagel of 3 Minutes of the City of Arlington City Council Meeting February 3 2025 CONSENT AGENDA Mayor Pro Tem Michele Blythe moved and Councilmember Heather Logan seconded the motion to approve the Consent Agenda that was unanimously carried: 1. Minutes of the January 21 and 27, 2025 Council meetings 2. Accounts Payable: Approval of EFT Payments and Claims Checks #112484 through #112591 dated December 31st for $2,610,343.59; Approval of EFT Payments and Claims Checks #112592 through #112645 dated January 7th through January 21st for $360,291.86. PUBLIC HEARING None. NEW BUSINESS Resolution Supporting the Efforts of the Arlington School District No.16 City Administrator Paul Ellis requested Council approve the resolution supporting the efforts of Arlington School District No. 16. Councilmember Leisha Nobach moved, and Councilmember Jan Schuette seconded the motion to approve the resolution supporting the Arlington School District and authorize the Mayor to sign the resolution. The motion passed unanimously. Appointment of DeAnn Bennett to Cemetery Board Public Works Director Jim Kelly requested Council consent to the appointment of DeAnn Bennett to the Cemetery Board. Ms. Bennett has served on the Cemetery Board since January 2021. Councilmember Yvonne Gallardo-Van Orman moved, and Councilmember Michele Blythe seconded the motion to consent to the appointment of DeAnn Bennett to the Arlington Cemetery Board. The motion passed unanimously. Resolution Approving Emergency Declaration Pump Purchase for Haller Wellfield Public Works Director Jim Kelly requested Council approve a resolution approving an emergency declaration pump purchase for Haller Wellfield. Councilmember Debora Nelson moved, and Councilmember Rob Toyer seconded the motion to approve the resolution and authorize the Mayor to sign it. The motion passed unanimously. COMMENTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS Councilmember Logan spoke about North County Regional Fire Authority. Councilmember Nobach spoke about the Eagle Festival. Councilmember Gallardo-Van Ornam provided information about various community events. Councilmember Blythe spoke about the Parks, Arts, and Recreation Commission meeting she attended. Councilmember Schuette spoke about the North County Regional Fire Authority Commission meeting. He also provided information about meeting with the City's lobbyist. EXECUTIVE SESSION None.
